Answers to common questions about Memorease and Olfactory Training

Is it safe? Olfactory Training is safe for nearly everyone. People with synesthesia or high sensitivities should exercise caution, but we have heard positive feedback even from people who typically react to smells (as these are often also associated with chemicals).

How long does it take to notice results? This depends person-to-person. We have had reports from people experiencing results after only a few weeks. Results as observed in studies are generally from 3-6 months, and we recommend practicing olfactory training on a consistent basis for 6 months to notice desired results.

This seems too simple. You’re saying I just smell these and it improves my brain/memory? Yes! Trust us, we had to read a lot to get convinced, too. But you are working with the brain’s (and especially the olfactory system’s) capacity for neuroplasticity (change over time due to stimulation). If you did 10 push-ups twice a day for 6 months, wouldn’t you expect something to change?

Can I just smell things around my house? We recommend everyone engage more with smells in day-to-day life. But to experience the benefits of Olfactory Training, the concentration must be high, and the scents high-quality and single-molecule. The ‘hardest’ part of olfactory training—remembering to do something new every day—becomes easier when A) You spend money and ‘want your money’s worth’, and B) have a designated kit for the practice.

Will this work for me? I have _____. Research indicates that 80% of people who lose their sense of smell can regain some of it through olfactory training. But smell links so intimately with our brains, bodies, and health, that, if you’ll pardon the expression, we feel doing olfactory training is a ‘no brainer’ for pretty much anyone. For the low cost and potential benefits, this is a great idea and worth your time just to find out what will happen!

Why haven’t I heard about this before? That’s what we were asking, and why we started Memorease in the first place! The first study with olfactory training was in 2009, and neuroscientists understand smell the least of all the senses. But smell could be what we should be paying the most attention to! It will take decades for research to get funded and more studies to be published, and finally, peoples’ doctors to be talking to their patients about how important it is to monitor their sense of smell. That isn’t worth the wait, especially for anyone over the age of 60! Olfactory Training with a Memorease Neuroscent Kit is so safe, so simple, and shows such great promise, that we can’t wait for you to tell your doctor about the changes you experience!

My smell/memory/health is fine. Science shows us that people losing their sense of smell don’t notice for years. Over 50% of people 65–80 show measurable decline. 62–80% of those 80+ show olfactory impairment. And your hippocampus—the part of your brain that processes memory—starts to shrink in adulthood, especially from 60 onwards. Olfactory Training works to reverse this process! By the time you notice changes, they’ve been years in the making. Don’t wait!
