COVID-19 What you Need to Know
Did you or a loved one lose your sense of smell following COVID?
Even after mild COVID, studies show that Olfactory Training is a good idea for your health.

A systematic review authored by Treder-Rochna et al, 2024 looked at 14 studies (“The effectiveness of olfactory training for chronic olfactory disorder following COVID-19.” Frontiers in Human Neuroscience) found:
Olfactory (smell) dysfunction is one of the most prevalent symptoms of long COVID.
Olfactory training alone produces significant improvements in chronic olfactory dysfunction.
Non-traditional olfactory training (ie using things around the house for smell-training) produced little-to-no improvement.
Olfactory training is the most recommended approach for managing post-COVID-19 olfactory dysfunction.
It is most effective when done consistently for more than 2 months.
Why everyone who has had COVID-19 should consider Olfactory Training
In a study (“SARS-CoV-2 is associated with changes in brain structures in UK Biobank,” Douaud et al, 2022), researchers scanned 400 people’s brains before infection, as well as months after infection (average 141 days after). They found:
“There is strong evidence of brain-related abnormalities in COVID-19.”
“There is a significant deleterious effect mainly in the limbic and olfactory cortical system, with pronounced reduction of grey matter thickness after infection with COVID.”
“COVID positive groups had significantly greater cognitive decline observed.”
“The overlapping olfactory and memory related functions of the brain regions shown to alter significantly over time with COVID raise the possibility that longer-term consequences of infection might in time contribute to Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.”
Note: The UK Biobank data contained “a high number of mild cases” of COVID.
The brain regions damaged by COVID are the same ones strengthened by olfactory training with Memorease.
